Older photos – part 2
Next up we have my partial attempt at Sculptures by the Sea at Bondi Beach, partial in the fact that I only got half way before having to leave to head to dinner. Definitely need to make more of an effort to go, more than once preferably as it's one of those events that is always so much fun (photographically). So much choice of subject and in varying environment makes it a challenge to capture something different.
Would love some comments on this photo, bit of an experiment with the composition and the post (and funnily enough, not even a sculpture itself!)
Below is my take on Sculptures by the Sea 2011.
So the reason the photos from above were cut short was the need to attend Steve's and Janet's birthday at Hurricanes in Darling Harbour. Photos from the night below, nothing too fancy seeing as I only had my 35mm f/2 and no flash with me (I've been pretty lazy these days).
Photos from the past few weeks
So, I've been a lazy ass lately and photos have been piling up without being posted, so I've just thrown everything into one post.
First is VSA cruise of 2010, a lot of fisheye photos in this one, suprised I managed to get this in focus.
Next up are the photos from the VSA UNSW BBQ from August.
Also, 10 years later after we had all left primary school, the time capsule we had put in the ground in the year 2000 was finally dug up. Some things had changed at school, while others largely remained the same. As our memory of what was in the capsule was quite fuzzy, we all remembered the things in there being better than they actually were. The contents were a bit disappointing.
Within the last few weeks, our friend David Huynh had the privilege of graduating, finally after years of work and thousands of dollars, he's got the piece of paper which makes it all worth it.
Nugo also tried to redeem himself with his 22nd birthday (not many photos from this one), most of you will remember he conked out really early for his 21st and this time round, he wasn't gonna disappoint.
Thien and Kalee also celebrated their 22nd birthdays with a Korean BBQ dinner at the Bakehouse garden in North Strathfield complimented by two games of ten-pin bowling.
And most recently, during the mid sem break, I went on a trip up north to MacMasters beach on the Central Coast. Wonderful time with decent weather, and when it did get chilly, the jacuzzi was a nice touch.
Stephen Du’s 20th B’day
On the 21st of March we celebrate Stephen Du's, known as Duman, birthday, for this occassion the prick made us travel all the way down to Jervis Bay for a day for some fun. The day started with a 6.30am meetup at his house to aim for a 7am departure, this became closer to 7.30am leaving us with only two hours to complete a two and a half hour trip. The solution? Gun it down the highway, the drive down was awesome once you got past the Hume Highway and the small towns along the way, the hills in Kangaroo Valley were nice and windy with smooth surfaced roads making for a fun drive, the view on the way down the mountains was quite spectacular as it was quiet a foggy morning and it seemed like we were driving above the clouds.
The schedule for the day was a dolphin watching cruise followed by lunch and the spending time at the beach where we could fish, snorkel and just enjoy the beautiful white sand. The dolphin cruise was quite sucessful with us sighting quite a few dolphins closer to end however they seemed to be attracted to another dolphin cruise boat, giving them quite an impressive show. Snorkelling around the area was quite nice once I got the hang of it and the view under water was quite nice once I brought a piece of meat to bait out the fish. While swimming back to shore I was luckily enough to witness a school of hundreds of fish swimming around me and the view was simply epic. As the day went closer to the end we set up the barbeque and cooked what seemed to be the best tasting sausages ever as we were all so hungry.
Photos from the day trip are below:
Driving back was another rushed drive as we were late for dinner scheduled at 8pm. Dinner was a Thai buffet at the restaurant Duman previously worked at, despite being 40 minutes late there was still plenty of food left for us to eat. Not much to write about the dinner but the photos are below:
Ben Kha’s B’day – 01.02.2009
To celebrate Ben's b'day we headed up for a trip towards the Central Coast area to a place called Dora's creek for some fishing, it was a scorcher of a day and by the time we arrived the sun was already up high and killing our skin. As soon as we arrived the rods were unpacked and lines were cast in as soon as the prawns started to thaw up a bit. Our luck was low as bites and nibbles were far and wide, the fish didn't seem to be eating our bait but would happily munch on the bait of the man next to us. After a while we paused for a bit for some lunch, we had wraps, pasta, sausages and sandwiches during this time I managed one fish after leaving the line for a while, unfortunately it was a tiny fish which we wouldn't be able to keep. After tossing it back, it was Stephen's turn for a fish ironically it was the same type of fish as I had just thrown back and similar in size, so unlucky once more.
After finishing lunch I reeled my rod in to find it extremely hard to do so, it was like a big fish, but the lack of tug made me think it was seaweed, but this was really really heavy, as I slowly reeled it in, it appeared to be a large rock. But I was curious to see how my line had managed to clip a rock and have it stay that way. After struggling to bring it up over the bridge it was surprising to see that it was not a rock but a lump of some sort of shell fish, I think Mussels, despite being covered in seaweed and stuff I chucked one on the bbq and it tasted alright, the others weren't as daring though.
As the sun burned our backs it was decided that it would be a good idea to head down to a beach to cool down, we drove back to The Entrance making a quick stop at the local shops for some drinks and ice cream. While at the beach Kim and Winnie somehow managed to get stung by Blue Bottle jellyfish while waddling in the water for 5 minutes at most whereas Belrich and I were in the for quite a while came out unscathed. Anyways, it was a fun day out and we all hung out at Nugen's place afterwards enjoying a Pizza dinner anda yummy fruit dessert thingy prepared by Tina. Pics are below.
Forrester’s Beach Trip
I'm finally back from the road trip up to the Central Coast, Forrester's Beach to be more precise with 21 other awesome people, mainly from Fairvale High. We stayed for 6 nights in a house which was basically split into two houses on top of each other, decent on the outside but pretty nice on the inside. Lily organised the whole trip primarily by herself and kudos to her for her great work. Had an awesome time at the coast with time spent going to the beach, drinking, fishing, driving around and some mischief late at night. Well the pics taken from my camera are up and you can see 'em below, more pics than I had expected cause I dont' think I personally shot that many photos.

Nelson Bay
I'm back...
...from my trip up to Nelson Bay starting on the 22nd of July 2008. We stayed in a 2 or 4 storey house (depending on how you wanna look at it) for 4 nights. Left on Tuesday morning to be greeted by a sunny day which was looking really good. Gab, Amanda and myself drove up later as the house was only supposed to fit 8 and also the fact that we didn't have breakfast, so a Mounties breakfast was decided upon. It was great, all you can eat for only $7.50.
Our many days there were spent primarily out when weather permitted and we went rock climbing, tobogganing, mini golfing, fishing and bowling. Nights were spent mainly at home pigging out on food or playing guitar hero as well as Pictionary, Twister and Karaoke/Ultrastar.
Dinner was primarily self cooked by a bunch of us with things ranging from steak and sausages to pasta bakes, potato salad, mash potatoes, roast chicken and more. And John, Kevin, Alan and I can safely say that we are not wusses and managed to complete a shitload of food to prove it, although it did leave us feeling bloated and shitty for the rest of the night.
Below are pictures from the trip, for your information John can see them and they are larger than a wheel.

This trip has left me wanting more and hopefully another trip can be arranged during the summer where the weather is nicer and we can actually go swimming and go quadbiking and more.
