Blast from the past – Max Graham ft Jessica Jacobs – I know you’re gone

Went through my music folder to find some tunes to run along to and came across a rather old compilation, Global Gathering '05. This song's the first track from the second CD and I heard this song again for a long time and just thought wow, this stuff was amazing. Such a mellow and beautiful tune.

Might go through my song collection some more and dig up some old gems. So nostalgic.

Ministry of Sound – Chilled Afterhours 2011

Nabbed myself a copy of this last night and started listening to it and I gotta say, I quite like what I'm hearing. It's a bit different to my usual postings but I've been after something more easy listening for the times you want to unwind.

Chillout Afterhours 2011

Ministry of sound describes the compilation as:

Ministry of Sound continue explore the softer side of music by releasing the latest edition in the Chilled series. Afterhours is an alternative take on previous albums combining a mixture of genres & introducing new artists to create a brand new laidback listening experience.

It's a bit different to the regular chillout sessions that the Ministry of Sound bring out every year, so give it a shot if you find that a bit too slow. The 3 CD compilation has a different sound and vibe per disc so you could probably find something more suitable to your tastes. My personal perception of the music on the compilation would be somewhat like a modern electronic equivalent of Jazz.

Favourite song so far (aside from 'To Build a Home' by The Cinematic Orchestra) would be 'Pictures' by Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

Roger Shah ft Moya Brennan – Morning Star

Came across this song today on youtube today and absolutely love it! You may recognise the voice from a past trance hit known as Saltwater by Chicane. Sounds absolutely beautiful, almost heavenly.

Magic City 2011 – It’s Showtime – Photos

So after snapping over 1800 photos, I've been able to cull that down to a lovely 250 or so for your viewing pleasure. It was a much better night than I had expected (probably because the hardstyle started later than usual.

Magic City 2011 – Preview

Last Saturday night I was one of the photographers working at Magic City and it was a rather awesome night, usually not my kind of music, but this time it was pretty good. JamX aka DuMonde brought back a lot of memories, especially my younger years when I started listening to trance, quite a few songs I never thought I'd ever hear played again so that was rather awesome. I don't know why I always seem to clock up some many photos with these events, always makes going through them so difficult, especially when they only want 100-150 photos.

So here's a little preview of the shots from the night.

Other thing that was particularly special about the night was this shot...

View from the roof

Yes, that is from the roof of the Hordern, spectacular view there. Guess that's the privilege of being a photographer, and getting your own dressing room is nice too :D .

GODSKITCHEN in 3D

So the long weekend is quickly approaching and that means one thing for me, the night long party which is Godskitchen. It's been so long since a decent trance event has been on the Sydney calendar and there are some high expectations after the epic that was the Boombox, the same time last year. This year the Boombox has been packed away and the 3D trend is continuing on, with no idea what to expect, I'm quite excited. This year's line up is pretty good again with Andy Moor, Marcel Woods, John O Callaghan and Wippenberg representing Sydney's lineup (supported by locals VLN and Thomas Knight). It's a shame that us Sydney-siders miss out on Binary Finary but it's still a strong line up none-the-less.

Just to get you in the mood, I've linked some youtube videos to some tunes produced by the artists playing and will be what I'll be looking forward to.

Jose Amnesia ft Jennifer Rene – Wouldn’t Change a Thing

This one's a bit of an oldie, but just heard it and remembered how nice a song it is. Jennifer's voice is just one of the best in the trance scene and it adds a lot to the song. A song like this just gives me that euphoric feeling and makes me glad that I love trance music, just the plain versatility of having calm relaxing tunes such as this to heavy driving trance anthems which just make your feet wanna move. Another nice mix of this tune is Retrobyte's Bounce Back remix.

Lyrics:

Close the door
Turn the light off
And before you drop come to me
I’ll be here when you wake up
Please don’t ever stop
Stay with me

If I could do it all over
I wouldn’t change a thing
Wouldn’t change a thing

I will spend my life trying to make you love me
Whenever you breathe
Whatever you need

Another Friday has passed and that means another episode of A State Of Trance, this time 425. I've listened to this episode multiple times since downloading it on Friday morning and I think it's magnificent. Coldplay & Kim Le’s B’day

Feels good to finally have my site back up after my host decided to go bankrupt :( not to fear as it's back now and unlikely to go down again. I'm still in the process of redesigning my site and splitting it up to three sections, you'll see when i'm done ;) .

Anyways, March was quite a busy month with Uni starting up again and getting busy already despite only have 3 days of uni. So far in March though I've been to Coldplay's concert which I found to be quite good, our seats were quite far back as we only managed bronze reserved. They put on a good show with pretty nice visuals, the lasers were wicked, really bright and vivid colours. Highlights would have been Yellow and Viva La Vida for me, moreso Yellow due to the dropping of the Yellow balloons/balls, sucks that we weren't on the floor so we could grab some of the butterflies. Although it was a great show, I felt like there should have been more and being my first "real" concert, it was damn short but I guess that's the norm.

Pics are below, they're the best I could do.

Also in March was Kim Le's 20th b'day, we celebrated with dinner at Positano at Parramatta, we all had different meals which were quite nice. Headed out to Bamboo in the City afterwards for a bit but ended up being a waste of time, that place is shit, horrible atmosphere and people moving all over the place as they get to and from the bar. Not going there again, lucky I didn't have to pay to get in though.

Pics from Kim's b'day are below:

Man On The Run by Dash Berlin with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren

Here's a sweet tune recently released by Dash Berline with Cert, Mitiska & Jaren, awesome piano melody and chilling vocals, quite a sad tone towards it though but quite appropriate considering the lyrics. Been listening to this almost non stop and seems to be quite popular on Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance radio show too with multiple plays over a few weeks. Dash Berlin has also made some other sweet tunes like You Never Said and Sky Falls Down which are both worth obtaining. Here's a vid of the song below and lyrics below that.

Lyrics:

You stole a kiss and stole my heart,
Mmade me a fool right from the start.
It wouldn’t have been so bad except,
This little plan, it fell apart.

If I were you,
I’d dare not speak.
I’d run like hell,
In hopes of seeing tomorrow

It’s such a travesty
The way you say our love should be
Yeah, such a tragedy
Think you can just break my heart and leave me
Well you better run
Oh, man on the run
Playing for fun
Wind me up
Leave me undone

We're all made of love…

Ferry Corsten was playing at Home Nightclub on the 2nd of Jan and I had the privelege to witness such an amazing DJ play an amazing set. Make that 2 amazing DJ's. Scott Richardson, one of Australia's best opened the night starting with some prgressive music, an hour-ish before the big man came on, he played some banging tunes, Miracle, Out of the sky and the killer Richard Durand remix of Lethal industry, simply beautiful.

Next came the big man himself, Ferry Corsten, he came on strong, playing most of the tunes from his new album Twice in a blue moon. His style has become more tech driven rather then melodic but his technical skills with the decks were superb, smooth flawless transistions from one track to another. There was one tune I was waiting to hear all night and that was Made of Love from his new album and it was EPIC when dropped. The final hour of the set was filled with all the great tunes from the newer Brain Box and Radio Crash to the Ferry classics I had grown to love, Punk, Fire, Beautiful, L.E.F and an epic violin edit of Out of the blue all complimented by the phenomenal Ferry remix of Human by the Killers, the crowd went crazy.

I'll add a few pics and perhaps videos from the night when I can be bothered. But here's a killer tune from Ferry, just recently released. It's called "Made of Love" and here's a youtube video so you know what it sounds like.

And some lyrics for those that like to sing-a-long...

Just try to break me
Take everything away
Just try to shake me
