#ASOT600 – almost at an end

So because I haven’t been bothered to put together the video footage from ASOT600 in KL and the fact my blog was running a little dry, I decided to recap some of my favourite songs from ASOT600 so far. There’s only one more week til the celebrations finish in Den Bosch (damn you Hanna for actually going, so jealous).

While my experience of ASOT 600 in KL had been nothing short of phenomenal, I’ll save my thoughts there for another post once I can get the videos ready.

In the meantime, here are my favourite tracks so far, so many bangers and so many IDs!

Eco – m (you) sic

Although the album has been out for a few months, I’ve only just recently discovered it. Eco, previously known as DJ Eco (and the man responsible for the smash hit Borealis) has delivered the goods with the album entitled “m(you)sic”. I find it a little hard to describe what this album is, as you listen through the whole thing, it has a very nice progression from start to end with a few very downbeat and chilled songs, like part 1 and 2 of architextures but building slowly to some more melodic and slightly driving tunes such as “The Light In Your Eyes Went Out”. It’s a perfect Sunday afternoon album for lazing about or perfect for a long drive.

m(you)sic

One of the tunes is a collaboration with Eller Van Buuren (yes, it’s Armin’s little guitarist brother) called My Name is You(th)

Definitely worth a listen if you’re a bit more relaxed about your music choices as it’s not quite as smashing as Borealis and a little strayed from your regular club trance (the album as a whole).

Other tune I’m loving from the album is “The Light In Your Eyes Went Out”

Summer, where are you?

So it’s almost the end of Winter and I’m seriously craving the warm summer days with the sun shining and just being able to kick back in the outdoors. Summer also means festivals for us Aussies and I really can’t wait to get out and about with the music pumping and not having a thing to worry about.

So what’s with this random post? I came across a tune by Tim Berg (aka Avicii) called Bromance and it’s just hit me with it’s amazing breezy and airy sound. It’s just create this sudden rush of emotion and memories of days and nights out where the only thing that mattered was the music. So below is the song which has inspired this post and my excitement for the summer to come.

The video clip is quite hilarious and I urge you to watch the whole thing til the end, in my opinion though the song’s title and video clip are completely irrelevant to the tune itself.

So really, what I’m looking forward to is Armin Only and SummaFieldDayze for a double dose of Armin Van Buuren over the New Year period.

Another Friday has passed and that means another episode of A State Of Trance, this time 425. I’ve listened to this episode multiple times since downloading it on Friday morning and I think it’s magnificent. Heaps of vocal type tracks and a couple which remind me of Godskicthen last week (oh how I wish it was still October 4). My favourites this week are Waiting by Dash Berlin ft. Marcie and a few more. Almost the whole list this week is incredible. It also appears that there is a book by Armin, recently translated from Dutch, someone please buy it for me, haha.

Without overshadowing another ASOT day, another set which is a MUST DOWNLOAD is Myon and Shane 54’s Coldharbour Day set. These guys produced a wicked set cramming over 70 tracks in just over an hour, don’t know how they do it but it sounds like one giant mashup and has great tunes everywhere.

Man On The Run by Dash Berlin with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren

Here’s a sweet tune recently released by Dash Berline with Cert, Mitiska & Jaren, awesome piano melody and chilling vocals, quite a sad tone towards it though but quite appropriate considering the lyrics. Been listening to this almost non stop and seems to be quite popular on Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance radio show too with multiple plays over a few weeks. Dash Berlin has also made some other sweet tunes like You Never Said and Sky Falls Down which are both worth obtaining. Here’s a vid of the song below and lyrics below that.

Lyrics:

You stole a kiss and stole my heart,
Mmade me a fool right from the start.
It wouldn’t have been so bad except,
This little plan, it fell apart.

If I were you,
I’d dare not speak.
I’d run like hell,
In hopes of seeing tomorrow

It’s such a travesty
The way you say our love should be
Yeah, such a tragedy
Think you can just break my heart and leave me
Well you better run
Oh, man on the run
Playing for fun
Wind me up
Leave me undone

12 days left…

… til the world’s number 1 DJ comes to Sydney and plays his massive 9 hour show, Armin Only. It’ll be a hectic night starting at 9pm and not ending until 6am the next morning, it’s also being filmed for his Armin Only DVD and hopefully we can find our way onto it.

Just going with Richard, Jean, Vonam and Ray. Will be a sensational night, if I can manage to stay up all night.
